Lymphosis

Looking to educate myself. All indications are my Regal Tang came down with Lymphosis. Let me ask the same questions I would ask my doctor:

1. How did it happen?
2. How do I get rid of it?
3. How long will it take to get rid of it?
4. Is it contagious?
5. It looked like it was getting less apparent. But then it has become more apparent today.

Symptoms:

White cotton like spread over it's body, particulary concentrated in the under belly area. Fin's seem absent of this.

Anyone? Is it normal for the tang to rub this body against something if it is lymphosis?

Don't worry, it will drop (one day) and it does not hurt the fish. I will not spread to the other fish.

Lymphocystis. Are you sure that's what it is? It usually presents on the fins, less frequently on the body.

IF it's Lymphocystis, it's viral and brought on by stress. It's rather like warts. Not contagious like other infections or infestations. Usually the only "treatment" is addressing the stress that brought it on in the first place, and it goes away on its own. The only time I would intervene is if it's interfering with the fish eating (ie on the mouth) but only then with extreme caution, because removing it can leave a wound that opens the door to infection.

What you're describing though doesn't necessarily only indicate Lymphocystis to me. Pictures would help.

I can't seem to get a close up nor a good angle on the tang. I have 3 taken using my iPhone. Hope they'll do.

Can't see anything in the pic. Need closer up. Try taking video if he won't stay still. A few second clip might get a clearer shot.

I got one partial picture which may give some resemblance to how the regal really looks like. Video wasn't any better than the previous pictures.

Sorry - I can't see it. Yes I did enlarge the picture. Lymph is usually pretty "big".
