Wow, after 3 years of running, the pump finally quits... in the middle of the night. it literally blew it self. opened the top up to find that the impeller lodged it self out of the channel and quit working, it was really hot when i pulled it out, so hot that even after having it off 5 minutes it was getting hotter, it has since cooled off. luckily, i have a quiet-one i use to mix saltwater handy, just need to get a connector piece as the mag7 was smaller..

what a great week i have had lol had to buy new shocks/struts... now i need a new pump, wish i hadn't sold that mag7 now.. o well lol

hopefully my tank stays stable overnight and i can get the pump on and running in the morning after a trip to the hardware store. mainly worried if the tank will leak water down to the sump allowing it to overflow. i have leak in the over flow which allows water to fill up and drain down. which i installed the valve but i didn't...

ok i am off my soapbox...
/soapbox

discuss amongst yourselves lol
o i did get a great 5 head piece of acan, rainbow color like from a shop in richmond hill, ga for like 40 bucks, its pretty lol

The Mag might be fixable - check the impeller cover - if it's cracked, there's your problem (and it's a $10 or so fix.)

stick with the quietone... (or marineland utility pump)...

they'll run quieter and more efficient (and cooler)

Perhaps - but if the Mag is fixable he can use that to mix NSW or have a standby/backup pump (versus buying new).

that's true... and mags have an added use... mixing saltwater during the winter, they'll also bring the temperature up to tank temp...

PM Seth the Wine Guy. He might have a new (or like new) Mag 7 he needs to sell.

i have actually enjoyed my 7. and this is in my room where i of course, sleep.

the front of the mag is broke completely and the impeller shaft is in two pieces. and i'm afraid the motor might of taken a hit as it sat for about an hour or so before i realized it stopped making noises.

Edit: i'll just use the quietone till i decide if i want to try to fix my 7 or just buy another one. but i haven't got any money after my big repair for my car.

i like the quiet one a little better for the price they are quieter and they are cheaper have not had one to go out yet been only running for about 2 years now where i have a mag dive that is atleat about 6 or so

ii started up the mag 7 again today, seems to be fine, just need a new cover and a new impeller and i shouldhave that one running again. but i will wait on repairing it, i have went and got the supplies i needed to make the quiet one work with my set up, all is well again... for now..

btw i was never really conerned with heat, i have a very cool basement year round so having the mag7 supply free heat was always a plus, i never have had my heaters on during the summer, just the winters, makes life easy. now i need a ato bad, but the one i want is $200... but i can with that

more?

they're cheaper...(so are the marineland utility pumps)

been running the quietone for a week now.. is it running? heck if i know. i barely hear it... i have noticed a temp change tho. but not bad.

was going to order replacement parts for the mag7 to put it back in service BUT no place has the cover in stock. but they have the impeller at least

haha, no thanks Caleb, i am in no hurry to buy another pump. i can fix what i have lol besides you need that pump more than me :D thats why you bought it lol
