Anyone used one of them yet....I have had my eyes on the Reef Capable 36-48inch and the price aint to bad...Just curious may use for new Illuminata 57 Gal build

ive seen these as well and they look sleek but wasnt sure of the quality, would be interested as well

I have one on my daughter's nano... it works fine (and the par is reasonable), but the color is too white for me. It needs about twice the number of blue LEDs.

PM LilRobb about them.

At MACNA XXIII in Orlando, Lilrobb and Simon got some PAR readings on them with a PAR meter albeit the one that they test had 27 LEDs. From what I've seen and heard, I think that it's a great fixture.

I've got a 36" double bright fixture on my FOWLR in the Kitchen..

it's growing the Halimeda Algae in that tank groing nicely.. (has the look of a SW planted tank)

I have the 18" strip on my 25g cube and am happy with it. I don't have the equiptment to give you light test or anything. The only thing I wish it had was a way to set the moon lighting and day lighting with a timer. Because it is a switch I have to pick one or the other to keep it constant. I'm sure you could rewire it....

just for reference, if you can get your hands on the box of the light, the end panel shows PAR measurements and distances away from the fixture including indirect measurements...

Would dont you just put the timer on the main lights and leave the LED's on constant, won't hurt anything would it?

You can't do it with this fixture anyway. It has one cord, and a three position switch... off, blue only, and all.

ahh, ok back to letting corals rest??? Isthat a fact or speculation/preference (seroius question btw).

I have had many people tell me that leaving your LEDs on all the time is normal, and I have had people tell me don't. I just bought a Deep Blue SolarXtreme light, the LEDs stay on ALL THE TIME, so it wont hurt them to stay on all the time.:)

Fact. There are a couple threads around here about it, but basically 8 hours is about the magic number for lighting, and anything more can actually harm the corals. Plus, many corals use the darkness to feed and/or reproduce, so having a period of total darkness promotes better growth.

? corals in the ocean only see total darkness one night a month ? (new moon)

even then, I would argue that they dont see total darkness based on ambient lighting from artificial sources..

I've been diving during a new moon and you can still see (a very tiny bit) without your lights on..

the 24-36" model is a 24" light fixture who's legs expand to fit a 36" tank...

same with all the other models (ie. 18-24 is an 18" fixture that has expandable legs, etc)
