Well I picked up a Biocube 8 gallon from Scott, a ARC member and I have to say this thing is small . I currently own a Biocube 29 and my girlfriend loves the tank and wanted one of here own, under the conditions that I would maintain it:doh:. So far I have the now dead rock and live sand in the tank cycling:yuk:. I'll give it a week to cycle but being the rock is dead and the sand is from my 29 gallon i don't believe I will need a CUC for a bit, unless I want to feed them. I'm not totally sure yet and only time will tell. I do have plans to put LED's on this tank eventually since that's what i did to my Biocube 29 and LOVE IT. Anyways enough talk , here are some pictures of my newly setup tank and one of my existing tank taken about 2 months ago before I had the LED's

looks like a good start!
My thoughts, if I remember correctly this has a Maxijet return pump which is great. You will probably want to get a koralia for some more flow

I may have to do that in the future. Right now the biggest concern I have is the heat. The tank runs 78-82 degrees without a heater. I'm thinking I may need to install a fan pointing on the water in the feeder door.
Also here is a pictures from today now that the water has cleared up. ( the green rock is a seed rock from my biocube 29 )

The best way to kill the heat would be LEDs cheapest option is aquastyleonline or high quality from rapid led. Annoyingly pc bulbs are not cool running

Very nice start. You might try leaving the feeding hatch on the top open and see how much that cools down the tank.

Looking Good man!! I ran it with the feeding lid open, just FYI, to help with the heat and gas exchange.

Any plans on the Livestock?

I have a 29 bio cube and I did have a heat problem too! Some of the things that will help is keeping the feeding door open all the time and a fan (my ceiling fan works) on all the time. Hal just installed the LED strips and the temp is at 78 degrees and the heater has come on late at night. The unit had two nice fans and three compact CF lights. Hope this helps! Holley

Well guys I have came up with a master plan :-D I ordered 36 LEDs for my Biocube 29 gallon and I'm going to take the 22 led's already on the biocube 29 and put them in the 8 gallon. How much over kill will that be ? 8.25 watts per gallon. Now I know I can't run them full blast but hey I have no other use for them since IMO 22 isn't enough for a 29 gallon tank. Also here are my latest pictures of the tank. I've added some of the CUC, so hopefully the Diatom bloom will be good soon.
