I am looking to purchase a couple media reactors to run carbon and gfo. I was curious what people's opinion was on various brands of reactors.

What I am looking for:

1) Something reliable. I don't want something cheap but I don't want to spend a car payment either.
2) These reactors will be in sump and pumps aren't required. I built a manifold for my return pump.
3) Single chamber reactors.

On a similar note, I currently have seachem matrixcarbon in a filter bag in my sump. Are there any particular brands of media that's good or bad? How does this particular carbon compare to another brand?

I have a few I'd part with but you will need the cartridge that go in them and a few fittings. If your interested send me a pm

This is mostly for opinions. I wanted to get the input of others. You don't have to sell me anything, just give me reviews.

Now if you have something want to part with feel free to pm me with details.

I use BRS reactors. Nothing really comes to mind right now as far as reactors that are crap. They're pretty simple devices.

I would consider matrix carbon one of the better ones. A lot of people also like the BRS Rox carbon

I used to use BRS lignite until they accidentally sent my the rox. All I'll use now.

I use tlf550 reactors. Fine for the purpose. I like the avast ones as well. They will be my next.

I like this one http://spectrapure.com/Dual-Chamber-Media-Reactor">http://spectrapure.com/Dual-Chamber-Media-Reactor</a>

Waaay to much Better than the BRS, more convenient to control flow, to remove one single canister etc etc, and I had used the BRS brand, that thing would aloud the second canister to clump the media since they are connected inline. BUT, I won't go with them now, instead, I choose MRC, and I thinking in reducing the size of them, they are 622's

I also use the dual BRS with HC GFO and Rox 0.8 carbon, just a cup each, changed weekly. Running a high quality carbon after GFO will ensure fines don't enter display.
