Live aquaria says these are not reef safe or "with caution" but ive also read from many other areas on the net that there perfect for a reef tank. Have a cleaner, peppermints, hermits and snails. Would he snack on these between meals?

Depends on the fish, that's all I have to say. They say six lines are safe, but mine snacked on both my cleaner shrimp :(

He'll definitely try to eat the snails, but it really shouldn't be a problem. Unless an astrea snail gets turned upside down, they usually can't get to them. I think they're great additions, so even if they do eat a few snails, I'd say it's worth it. Snails are pretty cheap.

I have one, as well as a xmas wrasse in my tank, they are both just fine. Neither go after any inverts.

I love mine, but he will leave me about 4 crab shells a week on the sand bed up against the front of the tank.

Like said above mine will only go after snails if they are turned upside down. Even then I think it's more out of curiosity. He never really attacks with determination.
