MH bulb flickering

My 175w bulb is flickering, does that mean it is bad or the ballast is bad? It's a magnetic ballast.

Usually means that the ballast is bad.

I tried it using a different bulb, it didn't flicker. I put the flicker bulb on a different ballast and it stop flickering. This is weird.

the bulb may have not been seated properly in the socket before you moved it . Sounds like a capacitor to me. what type magnetic ballast are they?

I think that answered your question... like charlie said above.. probably the ballast.. (one lamp could have been pulse start, while the other was probe start..)
