Micro Bubbles

Any suggestions on how to cut down on my microbubbles? Seems like the return coming through the filter sock is creating as many as the skimmer. The baffles cut out most of them but lots are still getting through. I have a foam block as the water comes over the last baffle but I am still getting them. I can put a 90 degree elbow on the return intake but is there anything else I can do. Thanks for the help.

...but you may have to remove it because it could raise the water level in the first chamber (up above you're 'high' baffle)




what about having your skimmer output on the far left side of the first chamber.. I think that might cut down on them some..




of course, you could also reduce flow through your sump

Reduce it and extend the pvc INTO the water in the sump.

I take it back. Don't reduce it. Turn the skimmer around and put the inlet pvc from the tank to the sump into the water

build a U out of pvc and put it into the bulkhead, that way the water is being pulled from the right corner of the tank thus cutting down on some of the bubbles..

Not through a sump. If you have a lot of flow through the sump, the filtration doesn't do as good a job. I shoot for a 2-4 turn-over per hour.

If you're pump is plumbed externally, make sure the connections are sealed good and not drawing air. If you notice salt creep at any of the connections, it need to be resealed.
