What is a good replacement probe for a milwaukee? I don't know if you can use other brands or do I need to buy a milwaukee? Thanks for the help.

I was under the impression that as long as you have the BNC connection you are good to go. I've seen these on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-pH-Probe-w-BNC-Connector-NIB-/180976295265?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2a23071d61">http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-pH-Probe-w-BNC-Connector-NIB-/180976295265?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2a23071d61</a>

and have wondered about how good a $14.00 dollar probe is. Sorry no experience with one. However, before I do something that might nuke my tank, I'd wait until someone with more experience chimes in.

I usually pick up some calibration fluid as well.

Following along as well.

+1 for the BRS probes. They work with any standard monitor/controller.

You can use any probe with a BNC connector.

I'd personally be a little wary of the ebay replacement. I mean, how can they make a good, reliable, long lasting AG/Cl probe for $14? Maybe I'm totally of base? Also, the cable length is 1 meter, which is too short for some folk's needs. The usual length for a MI, DA, Apex or BRS probe is 6 feet, I believe.

I guess it is the importance of the function it performs that makes me wary of cheapo replacements.

FWIW, I usually get DA replacement probes since I use a DA controller, but I have used BRS probes without any issues either.

Good source of probes here.[/QUOTE]

Man, look at these!!! I wonder if any of these could be used on our reef tanks?

Im thinking of using one as a feed pump for my CA reactor. No more plugged needle valves! They go for about $225 to $250

I'm using a peristaltic dosing pump for my GEO 818 reactor feed. I love it.

Been using the ones on eBay for 5 years now. I usually buy two at a time for around $17 ea. shipped to your door. They take 7-14 days before they hit your mailbox.

Prior to using the eBay probes, I used the expensive ones for years and I see no difference. I use two of them currently with my APEX controller and they work perfectly.

No need to. Consistency in flow rate and bubble rate is key for me, with incremental increases or decreases in controller reactor pH sepoint is what gives consistent KH, IME.

First time hearing that from you:)

I have been testing the ebay probe on my RKE for over 3 months now. So far it has performed no different than the DA probes or the BRS probes. If I get 6 months of reliable mesurements, I will be very happy. I would rather replace an inexpensive probe every 6 months versus hoping I get 12 months from an expensive probe (which more times than not they have had to be replaced before 12 months of use). Be aware that the wire on the probe is almost 1/2 the length of the BRS or the DA probe.

I can't use the ebay probes on my setup for this reason, even if I wanted to. Cord is too short. My DA probes last about 18 months, so I have no problem with their lifespan. Hardest thing for me is remembering to calibrate them.

For all we know the ebay probes might be just as good or better than the name brand ones, with the exception of the short cord.

I may not have a great impression of ebay probes because I did buy one once (not the specific one being discussed), and it made my MI SMS122 controller click uncontrollably (sounded like a telegraph). Since then I have used the name brand ones without issue.
