I'm looking for people who have a Mimic Filefish (Paraluteres prionurus). Would like to get more information on your experience with them.

Specifically, what is your setup?
What additional tank mates? (fish/corals/inverts)
How long have you had it?
What do you feed it & how often?
Any issues??

I've done a lot of searches and have read through pretty much every thread and webpage I can find, but few (if any) really answer how "reef safe" and hardy the fish is. As with everything, there is conflicting info out there on how often to feed, but overall the fish seems like a decent candidate for my 60 cube mixed reef, but I still need more info.

Thanks to any response.

Funny, I was reading about them today and saw the same thing. I'd be interesting in hearing experiences too...

Most filesfish are pickers at sessile inverts. I havent kept this species, per se, but I have kept files before, and they all seem to like to pick. I wouldnt add a file to a tank with LPS, zoas, or clams, in my opinion.

Right, and what's kicking me is that this guy seems to be the exception from everything I've read, including those who have had the fish. I'm just trying to get an update from someone (or a few) saying "yeah, had it for X years and this is what has happened" Yet I can't find anyone...
