Mini chiller

I have only read what users have posted. It is good for a couple degrees, but not a lot more.

It's a Peltier thermoelectrical cooler and they do work. Their effectiveness, however, is dependent on a number of factor. How are you intending to use it? Will it be in a climate controlled room, what's the water volume, and how many degrees are you wanting to drop the temperature?

I have a 24 gal Aquapod, the temp during the day is 82 degrees and it's 79 degrees wheni I turn the lights on in the morning. I'm worried about the temp when the heat is on. I keep the a/c on 76 degrees, not sure about the heat yet(new system). Its been up for about 3 weeks, used rock and sand from my other systems. I would like to keep the pod at 78-79 like my other tanks, I feel my fish, snails, crabs and shrimp stay healthier at that range. I have not added any livestock, I wanted to get it right first. Thanks for the help:D Holley

Don't mind at all, the more the merrier! I would like to put it in the back compartment of the 24g aquapod.

For the water volumes you have, these chillers should be able to drop the temperture in the tank 2 to 3 degrees below the ambient temperture in the room where the tank is located.

You may still see a temp swing when the light is on but it will be smoothed out and shouldn't be as dramatic as they are now. IIRC, the IceProbe is only a 50w chiller. Upgrading the fans should smooth this out even more.

I have one on a 15 gallon, with the temp controller. It requires a constant flow of air across the fan/fins (more than what the installed fans can supply, IMO) and will keep the temp down only a degree or two.

Unless you have a 15g or smaller and only want it to drop the temp 2-3 degrees, dont bother.

My first tank was a JBJ 12G Nano I picked up from Simon K. He had it drilled with an Ice Probe installed. It worked okay however I would just go with a fan like the Azoo and an ATO. It's more effective and the thing the drove me crazy was the small sump size of the 12G. Add the Ice Probe in and it was a PIA with my big mitts. Oh, and I forgot that I have to replace the power supply at one point to.

Forgot to add that it was tough in the summer to keep the Nano below 82 during the day. It generally ran close to 83 even with the Ice Probe.
