Mini crash- good fun.

anecdotally......

are your polyps fully extended on acros, lps, etc?

or

are they just barely poking out.....Millie full extended or "tight"...

with a heavy bio-load and well fed live stock, I find it difficult to "over do it" and remove too much nutrients where phates are way below 0.028 and trates below 0.25.

However, when I have done that, my polyps are barely extended (many reasons that could make that happen, as you know) for days.

Of course, if you have 3 fish in a 210, it would be quite easy to reach this point.

Poor polyp extension for the past week. They aren't completely retracted, but they aren't full blown open like normal. The ones that began STN aren't really extending at all.

I have researched anywhere that stn starts when there is an extreme lack of nutrients for a short period of time, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. Corals usually lighten up as algae doesn't have enough nutrients...

could be.....or maybe it was too quick of a reduction (I've heard of that quite common when GFO was first beginning to have widespead use).

All of the corals have lightened up since I have started dosing.

Pretty good info so far. I think I have a decent plan to get everything back to par.

ok, albeit "hard to do" with a high bio-load, I believe (anecdotally, of course) that you have stripped your nutrients too fast too far low.

Also, are you using matrix also?

as you stated stop carbon dosing or lower back to initial.

Feed heavily for a couple of days...

add some stability and/or bio-gest

Yes, I have about a gallon of matrix total.

I'm reducing the vodka, upping the feeding, and adding the MB7.

This morning the ammonia was 0.00

Edit: I am also raising the PH set point on my CA REACTOR so that the alk can drop down to 3.0mg/l.
