I put a yellow coris wrasse in my 57g on monday around 4pm. I noticed him swimming around for about an hour - i haven't seen him since! I checked all the places he would have landed if he jumped, and I haven't noticed any cuc swarms. Is it safe to assume he became nassarius food while I was sleeping, or might he still be hiding in the sand somewhere? ps: there's nothing in there that could eat him

It could still be hiding. Is the bottom of the tank viewable from underneath? I can see mine from underneath once they dive into the sand.

look around to make sure he didnt jump, but he is probably just still hiding. Ive seen them take over a week to show up, and 2-3 weeks to really start eating.

yes, the bottom is viewable; thats the only way i can see my yasha/pistol pair :lol2: I don't see anything wrasse-like down there, though

ok, this is reassuring...

WOW ----- JUST as i was typing my last reply, I peered over and saw him!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Awesome. You're doing better than me then with your coris. I had mine for a month and then he went into hiding after putting a one spot foxface into the tank. That was 5 or 6 weeks ago. I have read of that happening before so hopefully one day, he'll come out...

Awsome, its common for wrasses to stay hidden for a few days after getting introduced to a new tank
