Ive read these can hide for long periods of time. And i havent seen mine for 2 days now. How long would you leave a wrasse missing before you go looking for it.

he will come out when he's hungry - i wouldnt go looking as that may prolong the time it will take em to come out. I would do thorough searches around the tank to make sure he didnt go carpet surfing - if not, just wait. keep an eye on your levels - if he hid and died, your water params will tell you......

Just had the same thing happen to me...I looked everywhere under couch etc...then I decided to look again and there he was up next to the baseboard behind couch... Unfortunately he didn't make it.... Hope you have a better turn out and he comes out soon!

Its a Dragon Wrasse.

Checked around the floor etc and he isnt out of the tank. (unless my dog ate him hmmm)

O and the tank lid is covered but there is a small lift as i havent cut out a chunk for the overflow yet. So the lid is slightly raised on one side.

I don't have a lot of experience with dragon wrasses - they flip too much stuff over. I don't think they are inclined to bury themselves though :-/

Hope he turns up.

He's done it every day since i got him he'll be out for a few hours then gone for a few just last few days today being the 3rd i havent seen him reappear. He's a fish that buries himself in the sand to sleep.

I do know that some wrasses bury themselves, but not all. I hadn't seen a dragon bury before (but have limited experience with them).

I have had different burying wrasses stay hidden for several days at a time, especially when first moved to a new environment.

I've never had a dragon wrasse but my yellow wrasse hid for 2 months before coming back out. He hid when I added a one spot foxface. He now is out all day.

All I can add is that my Melanaurus (sp?) wrasse was in hiding for a few times (up to four days) depending on how bullyish Spongebob SquareTang was being at the time. The yellow settled down and they've learned to coexist, and she's out all the time now.

That's one crazy kiddo you have there! My daughter just read that over my shoulder and laughed in my ear!
