Soliciting thoughts.....I am upgrading my lights from dimmable mm LEDs to Radion LEDs and wondering if I should "slow play" it relative to intensity, etc.

I've had the dimmable mm LEDs on full blast approximately 7" from waterline, and have been getting good SPS growth and coloration (at least from what I can tell). No bleaching of any kind.

Hey Tom I would start low bc the Radions have optics and the light will be much stronger. If your MMs are like mine they do not have optics.

Thanks, I believe you are correct as my mm led does not have optics.

Edit: The regular xr30w. Not PRO, which unfortunately won't ship until 2013.

I'm rather impatient.

You will be able to upgrade to the Pro later if you want to. You also have the choice to install the TIR lenses separately, which gives a big increase in intensity and is totally worth it for $15 a lens. I'm liking the results I am getting with the XR30 with the TIRs, so if I upgrade it will be for the pop the UVs will give, not for increased intensity. Radions without the TIRs are fine for SPS right out of the box.

Just picked up the TIR lenses, and to be safe, I'll slowly increase the intensity.
