I had recently taken ownership of several SPS corals. One of witch is an Idaho Grape Monti cap. They were gifted. The Grape Monti had some issues in the previous tank with a fish wanting to take it and hide it behind stuff. Of coarse this taking place in a 300 gallon tank the coral managed to loose its color spending to much time hiding in caves. LOL! So now down to the question. I am working on trying to get its color back. Its growing quite well and has incrusted in its new home in a week. I am wondering if I can help and what I can do to get color to return if it will at all?

Thanks,
Mike

I had some Idaho Grape a while back. Fickle little coral. It was always purple, but never really colored up. This was a 5 inch frag too!

Well good luck! I finally started to get mine to come out a little when I moved if away from my PH. I think they like flow, but definitely indirect flow.

It's set off indirect but is close to the spill box. It is also very high in the tank and very close to the center of the bulb. I figured light would help. Just a guess.

i have lots of different montipora. ELOS products seem to be phanominal as far as coloration goes. light and water quality must be up to par first of all. if so then try the omegas and pro skimmer by ELOS. they are like steroids for your corals. i am keeping reverse sunset monti and many others that have phanominal bright colors! give it a shot! plus all your corals will benifit from it aswell!

Thanks for the info. I have a reverse poker star that looks great, my orange cap is perfect, and all my milles look good. So I think it's just going to take some time. Falls into that catagory of sit back and wait in this hobby!
