What would cause my monti. cap. to bleach? All my parameters are wnl. It has been directly below an actinic for quite some time and has grown quiclky. I know the bulb needs to be repalced...could that have caused the problem?

Thanks,

John

Wouldn'r be too much light in this case, and the temperature is usually around 80. Don't have the parameters with me here at work, but they were all wnl. My guess is because the actinic is about 2 yrs old, it's from not enough light. Thanks for the feedback.

I had this exact problem when my return pump failed in the big system. The tank had circulation with the vortechs but the water exchange had stopped for a couple of day and the temperature went high. I lost most of my caps which had been doing great up till that point.

Mine bleached a little when I changed bulbs out (T5). It took them some weeks to recover...but they did.

Post some pics too

There are hundreds of things that can cause that. Please post all your parems, along with test kits used. Also, temp, flow, dosing info and anything else u might throw in there. Do you have algae? Do anything different last week? Power outages? Move/add/change sand? Anything else die in tank lately?
Pics? How are other sps corals?
