So I have a NC12DX and I'm going to be doing some lighting upgrades and I'm looking for some suggestions for some moon lights. Any good links to some nice waterproof ones?

What is your upgrade? I have a Sunpod on a 10 gallon and it has 12 built in moonlights. I have them on a timer to turn off around 2am because they're bright enough to keep everyone awake.

Going to retro a 70W halide into the stock hood. Similar to what nanotuners sells. Just wondering what to do for moonlight.

I've had good luck with the Current USA ones. Nothing too fancy, the price is right, and they're extensible (not that you need that on the nano).

See http://www.marinedepot.com/lighting_moonlight_moon_lunar_lamp_current_usa-ap.html">this link</a>, although you can find them several places locally.

Only con is that they're a little TOO bright for some tanks, but you can add a piece or two of scotch tape to tame it down some.

Anyone know how these couold be installed on a 150 watt MH HQI Clamp on fixture?

Yeah Chris I initially saw those, didn't know how "water proof" they were though. I may look into those a little more.

Lee,
I don't know how waterproof any of them are, actually?

I use the R2 Extreme LED Moonlight on all my setups. The single one is on sale for $29.99 direct from the manufacturer. I would call them water resistant, but not waterproof. They only come in blue, and they are very bright.

Thanks Dave, I saw those and seeing the tank is only 12g's that would be very bright. I ordered 1 of the current USA ones...it should work great...esp with them being so small. thanks for the links guys!

Lee can you please let me know how these look. I'm thinking of putting a couple on my 56.

Yeah man sure thing. You can apparently put 12 total in line for one wall plug. Not too shabby. Depending on how "bright" you may want your moonlight...the links that Dave posted are to some really really good moonlights. I've seen them in person and they are awesome! But like I said, just a little too much for my size tank. Once I get it in, I'll slap it in and snap a pic for ya. I only bought 1....I didn't really think I needed any more...guess we'll see.

You will like the lunar links. That's what I have on my 100 in white. Looks great.
What other lighting are you going with?

XM 20K 70W HQI. I may decide to put in an 18W actinic PC...not sure though. This isn't a full blown reef tank, just something for the babies room. Right now it has 2 nems, 2 clowns, 1 neon goby and a jaw fish....and some random zoas. Not really going to do too much more with it. I'll post a pic ones of these day.

Canopy or lamp with a neck? Either way should be an easy mount.
Why pc for supplement?

All going in the stock NC hood. PC because of the limited space and the pc actinic isn't all too bad.

Nice. Yeah those little pc "fuge" bulbs are pretty cheap too. Same with the whole fixture. Nice. I'm going to look for a heater for my 2.5 tomorrow. Let me know what you use
