My Apex keeps adding extra EB8 modules. I only have one! The only things I have plugged into my EB8 is my lights. There are 6 plugs for them. When modules get randomly get added it seems the lights begin to be controlled by the default settings for the newly-added EB8 that I did not add.

WTH?

Hi Stacy - that happened to me after a power surge. I tried to reprogram it myself but couldn't get it to work properly. I sent an email to Neptune Systems and Paul responded that he knew what the problem was. He was able to Telnet into the Apex and fixed it in only a few minutes. Their support is amazing.

Mine is only hooked up to my local network. They wouldn't be able to access it would they?

Stacy, what version of firmware are you running? I know this was a problem with earlier versions of firmware but has been resolved in later versions.

I just set it up around the first of July so it's the current version.

Barry_Keith that's good to know. I'll contact them and see what they say.

l is very helpful. He connected to my computer and was able to access my apex on my network and allow me to access it outside of my network.

+ 1 on both these quotes. I had to call a couple of times this week, and Paul was great.

If you have internet access and can connect ( I used a long ethernet cable) he should be able to help, he used a free remote desktop connection to do several things ( he helped set up so that I could use email and text to my cheap straight talk phone, I thought that it only be done with a smart phone.).

I don't know if this will help or not, but the first thing he asked is if I did a proper power cycle. First unplug the display then unplug the base unit then unplug the EB8. Apparently the display has some sort of memory (in my unit this was causing the the base and EB8 to go the the same setting)

If this is a situation that will cause your tank to crash, he did say that he checked his emails during the week end ( I believe that everyone needs a weekend offand I won't bug someone unless I have to).

I'll try to do the power cycle and unplug as you suggested. If I can't get things straightened out I'll contact them during the week. This is nothing critical since all that my Apex actually controls is my lights and monitor temp and pH. I'm not advanced enough yet to do anything else. :)

I agree. Everyone needs a weekend off. :)

not sure that is a safe assumption depending on where it came from.

The version can be found on the Configuration / Network page in the table at the bottom. The absolute latest version is 4.12_5A12 Anything newer than 4.12_XXXX should be safe.

One more thing Stacy... if I recall correctly, Paul @ Neptune told me that if I left my APEX off for 24 hours then the EB8 port would clear itself. Of course by that time, he had already done his ninja programming to fix the problem.

I am working today and I don't mind. It is the "Not" working during the week that I don't like. LOL

I've been pulling weeds in my flower beds all day today so I haven't had a chance to do much with it yet. I'll post here when I find out.

I love the concept of an Apex but I wonder if I'd be better off just doing things "old school".
