Get a rubbermaid container. Add saltwater, heater, and powerhead. You can put the rock in there until the tank is ready. Live rock will be alright without light.
yes, you'll still need something to take it to and from with. you can get a gas can as mentioned before (unused and new), or the lfs will have something too.
