MP60 problem

MP60 is roughly 6-8 months old with no more than two months usage. It has been running on the new tank for about a week.

Last night I found the wetside on two different occasions lying on the sand bed. Thinking that possibly the magnet wasn't strong enough to keep it on the tank I switched the spacer to the 3/4'' which is the tanks thickness to 1''. Over the the next few hours I would found the pump controller off for no apparent reason. Perplexed, I turned it back on and watched it, after a few minutes of working fine it cycled through a series of lights and turned itself off??? WTH is going on?

Well, you went from a thin spacer to a thicker one thinking it wasn't powerful enough?
Shouldn't you go thinner in that case?

Same thing - you went to a THICKER spacer...
Unless you mean glass thickness and not spacer rating

Did you try reseting the pump? What colors flash before it powers off?

Not sure, I'm going to reset it and try to replicate the problem tonight.

Mine did that once. A few days later I found the wet side magnet blown apart. Had to send it to Ecotech for inspection to see if it was my fault or theirs. They sent me a new wet side NC. Make sure no snails have crawled in there. It will shut down and go through a light sequence when jammed.

my mp40 did this once before. my issue was the driver was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. it basically casued the dry side to spaz and shook itself loose from the wetside causing it to fall to the sand. but they did it "together" so they both ended up reconnecting at the bottom. the jerky movement just made both of them work their way down to the sand

Try a different wet side with that pump. Isolate pump or wet side issue.

Good point... Troubleshooting 101. My fiance (IT engineer) would be disappointed in me.

One question..... How many times do I need to restart my machine :)

I'd reset the driver and see what happens. Then try a different wetside. Then report results.

Hooked it back up, no reset, same wetside, no problems.... oh well, I guess I'll ride this train until the problem pops up again.

I had that problem a couple years ago with a couple MP40s...they did it a couple times, then stopped and it hasn't happened since.

I remember the source of my problems. It was the spacer. The spacer pin was protruding ever so slightly through the back causing a small bulge. Check to see if that round flat side is completely smooth.
