Mushroom and SPS

I believe I heard a while back that you shouldnt have mushrooms in an SPS tank. The can sting the SPS.

Is that a true statement or a preference. I have held off on mushrooms because of that, but they add alot of color.

i've got shrooms in my sps tank if that helps. They multiply like weeds though. gotta be careful there

Everything in that tank grows like weeds
 
I've got some Red Mushrooms right up by my Birdsnest and the ends of the Birdsnest which have touched the mushrooms have turned white.
 
<p style="text-align:left">there has ben a few studies that showed leather corals can release toxins in to reef tanks that can slow sps and lps growth. good carbon and frequent changes will help control it. not all are as bad as others but if they touch your sps there is a high chance that that area will die
