My 1st disaster

Im a little upset to say the least this morning. My diamond goby jumped out of the QT tank and was found on the hardwoods b my wife. Have any of you Egg crate owners have this happen before?

Here is my QT setup. Im a little confused as to how this happened. He had been in there for a week.

Yes....it can happen. I had a yellow corris wrasse do that a few years ago. That's when I dropped the eggcrate and went to screen top.

Anything that has an opening small enough for their body to fit through, they can get through. You'd think it difficult for them to find that "spot" but they can.

Not much is going to be 100%. I had a firefish make it through a mesh top a couple of mouths ago. Luckily I was in the room and I noticed it or of the corner of my eye.

I lost a ruby red dragonette through mesh about a month ago.

how is a fish getting through mesh?

Slightest gap will do it - I run with a glass lid but try to keep the finger hole covered just in case.

Seriously though, no idea. Even when i found it shriveled up, it seemed like it was too big to fit. It must have hit it with some force, and then wiggled its way through.

well I think I will convert over to 1/4" mesh. has to be better then egg crate.
