I've decided to start a frag tank so that my display tank is not so cluttered with frags. I want to clean my display up and have a frag tank to grow out things before placing them into the display. This way I can keep corals trimmed and in check.

I purchased a 30 gallon tank that was brand new from another ARC Member. I am now in the process of getting the stand built. I've looked around and inquired on prices. I went with someone local to build my stand since most of the prefab stands just didn't suit me and the prices we outrageously high for a 30 gallon.

I like shallow tanks. I feel you on the price for small stands. Often folks set the value or budget by the gallons and that is totally irreverent for the stand builder. I price mine based on the size of the stand and not the tank . It looks like you had a nice one built!

This is after staining it and the door put on.

I've have decided to remove the top and go to an unconventional route. Since the tank will be a bare bottom I am going to add a Phillips Hue bulb to give it a controlled variable colors from

Now without the top so it can be light from underneath.

Cool idea, really want to see how this works out.

Dball711 of course I don't think it will have any contributing factors for coral growth, I just think it will be a cool idea as far as accent lighting in the room. More or less a "Wow factor".
