Here are some snapshots of my 90Gal. Any advice would be awesome, I haven't ever had fish before, not even a beta or goldfish! Check it out and let me know what you think.

BTW, I am in the process of aquiring more live rock!

Its had water in it for about 16 days running for 12. I had some plumbing issues that kinda held me up in the beginning, but all better now!

You said your new, and I am not exactly old salt at it yet, but I will be the first to admit that I killed a fire angel, and one other fish (80 bucks worth of fish) due to rushing it.

If i were you, I would go out _tonight_ and get a saltwater test kit, and test all your parameters. if you measure _any_ ammonia, i would evac the fish, and let it go for another week atleast.

My flame angel seemed perfect when I put him in the night before, i got up in the morning to find him in the corner gasping, I litterally watched him die, which was pretty upsetting.

You do have a great start though, I have a 90 gallon as well, I really enjoy the dimensions of the tank (good balance of dimensions vs power of lighting/equipment needed).

If you absolutely can not get the fish out tonight, try to dose it with stability (i think thats what its called) it might help, but if there's ammonia, theres a good chance you will lose fish.

Been testing everything everyday. Already started dosing Calc and Alk to get the levels where I wanted them. I had a diatom bloom which sent me running for the store, which I found out is a good thing later. Added some snails/crabs and they just ate that stuff right up. My parameters haven't changed at all during any of this, not even with me adding livestock or rock. My rock I bought was already cured which I think played a part in the quick cycling of my tank.

My livestock have been doing well, no rapid gill movements or heavy breathing and they're eating like pigs. I have in the tank right now 3 Chromis, 1 Damsel, 2 Clowns.

However, my tank parameteres are as follows:
Temp: 76-79
Salt: 1.025
Ph: 8.2
Amn: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
Calc: 415
*Before last dosing
Alk: 7.5
*This is also before my last dose. I had it at 8.5 but it fell quicker than I expected

Lighting wise I have the AquaticLife 6 HO/T5 setup. Very nice with the moonlighting and timers, etc. Other equipment I have is the BRS dual reactor running GFO and Carbon, a heater (not sure what kind) and a Reef Octopus skimmer thats rated for 150gallon tank.

Sounds like you definetely have an eye on things, thats a relief about the diatoms.

The one thing I would add on the subject is that adding bioload quickly can cause a cycle. the tank may have had a short cycle due to the cured rock, but if a great deal of bioload were added after the small cycle it could cause a second cycle.

Diatoms are definetely a good sign, I did the same as you and got worried when it happened, but it burns off within a week, and then you know your supporting life! :)

Yeah, being a super newbie I have read everything I can get my hands on. The reef tutor series has helped me tons (videos)! Not very exciting but they do have some useful information for the beginner.

Yeah I had a couple of fish to get the cycle going. About 3 days after the diatom outbreak I added the clowns which seems to be working out well. I plan on adding some corals as soon as I get some more live rock to get those SPS corals up to the light and flow. Biggest piece of advice from me would be if you have extra $, spend it!!! It never hurts getting +1 or +2 on everything in the tank.

Oh i agree on the money, i was telling my wife just today I think most the problems with the hobby are due to under funding.

I have a GSP frag i put in first, once i saw that live, i was sure enough that I could handle coral. I suggest the frag route first off, it's a good test.

I'm pretty new myself, so right there with you, we have very similar tanks.

Throw your heater in the overflow so you hide it and the wires and clean up the right side of the tank. Otherwise looking really good.
