I will have them for adoption in a few weeks haha
I'm that weird out of town dude that has to meet in Rome though :) Still worth it though :)

Edit:

I still have some more things to frag before adoption processes can begin:eek:

I was in Rome today actually. My wife's parents live there so we make the trip semi-frequently. Now just convincing her to let me spend money on more corals...

Ah yes , There in lies the issue.

Instead of stating that you are spending money on corals perhaps play the angle of "coral chauffeur"... sharing they great corals of Northern Alabama with other reefing contemporaries of the Great City of Atlanta... one could almost described it as a mission. Kinda like Johnny Appleseed.

Still don't know if she'd go for that. The whole pregnancy thing makes her kinda cranky

Tell her you know a really good ice cream place and act surprised when she tells you brewsters are everywhere.

Please tell me how you get those colonies to grow that fast ! I meant, following in your post and the pics that you share and post I almost know that you have T5 lights, VHO or just regular T5? Then I saw that you have your CaRX , then you add KW as well??? Other additives that you might add/trust for coloration and health of the coral? What about water changes? Your tank, for what I have seen before its mostly SPS, so in this case you would always aim for keep on the low phos and nitrates... Or is there any other coral that it might be in discord due to the fact that water isn't favorable for it? I meant, this last question should be exempt since your tank should be not mixed reef , is it? Just asking this because I have seen some fellas that have mixed reefs having success with some corals while other corals suffer on the same tank due to water quality.. (e. SPS vs chalice) thanks! Always been a great help from someone with experience and stoning tank!!!

It's not a problem... everything is forgivable, unless you miss the birth. That they WILL hold against you for the rest of your life. I'm still testing that one, it's only been 9 years and it's one topic I don't bring up, not unless I'm trying to distract her from something she is really mad about... like spending money on corals.
;-)

How far along are you guys?

In a thread about your new kids, I bring up my new kid, who is due on your birthday...pretty sweet

My setup is plain t5 lighting. It is a 7 lamp fixture that has been gutted and retrofitted with VUE660 ballasts to OD the lamps.
I do run a CaRx (but haven't always). I do not add KW but did run a KW reactor in conjunction with my ATO before I had the CaRx.

I change 5 gallons about every 2 weeks or so.(total water is around 140g)
My corals are almost all SPS.

I have been adding readsea additives for coloration over the last 6 months or so. I'm very careful though because I don't have means to test all that stuff... I just go on observation, which can be dangerous.

I have had reasonable success over the last 2-3 years keeping sps corals. And I've come to think that one of the BIGGEST factors of success is consistency. Keep the same temp, the same salinity, the same good lighting and other factors (GIVEN that they are all within an acceptable range). I really do believe that a lot of reefers fail to see growth because they won't stop monkeying with stuff long enough for their corals to adapt and really thrive.

IMO (and its just an opinion) Don't skimp on lighting or skimming. Buy / build great equipment to start with, and keep things consistent for a number of years (its been an ongoing battle for me not to change lighting over the last few years, but looking back I'm glad I stuck with what I knew).

I'm definitely no expert, but if I can ever help shoot me a pm:)

B

Edit: Oh, and YES! I ALWAYS try to keep phosphates and nitrates to undetectable levels (using red sea pro test kits mostly).

Thank you for fast response! I have gathered quite a bit expensive equipment for now, but still have the no, no, answer from the boss to restart again hehehe! But someday! Thank you again!
