I picked up a nice rose RBTA from Kevin at Warehouse Aquarium last weekend. He's been chillin on a rock -- hasn't moved since he planted his foot so I guess he's happy.

I've fed it mysis already and it pooped. =) Overall, it looks to be doing ok. The 2x true perc clowns I have host the corner of the tank about 1ft away from the RBTA. I was hoping that they'd find the RBTA and be best buddies, but its been like 4-5 days now and they still haven't gotten the clue.

Any tricks to make the clowns warm up? Maybe play some Barry White?:lol2:

Give them time. They will find it eventually. May take a little longer if they are a younger smaller pair

Bear in mind, BTA are not a natural host for true percs. So it may or may not happen, but it likely wont be quick. Dont try to force it, just let nature take its course.

My maroon has two sets of polyps and a GBTA that he hosts (he is such a HOG! we joke that he has a summer beach house, a condo in the city and a mountain cabin). My No Bar Cinnamon hosts a Bubble Coral and a different GBTA (the coral and anen are on opposite sides of the aquarium....so he commutes). The No Bar has tried hosting this little (what is supposed to be) a RBTA, but the RBTA is small (and ugly....which is odd....when I picked it out at the store, I don't remember it looking this way.....thinking that there may have been a baby swop?) I have 3 Ocellaris that host a corner together. I have another RBTA (that I got from Tim and its GORGOEUS.....hot pink in color) that I'm hoping my B & Ws will take to....but we shall see.

Yeah it make take some time. The pair in my 40 spent their first 7 months in the corner of the tank nowhere near any of the rock let alone a nem or frogspawn. Eventually after almost a year they've found the frogspawn and have claimed it as their own.

I've got 2 juvi B&W's in my 120 that spend 95% of their time within 6 inches of 2 RBTAs since mine split and never go near it. Just have to wait and see unfortunately, but i agree with your title. They do seem to be somewhat mentally challenged as a species.

I concur with Jeremy, he beat me to the post ;)

Sometimes it happens in days or weeks, sometimes months, and sometimes not at all. It's up to the clowns to choose that host or something else (or nothing).

Don't try to force it - just be patient and keep in mind it may or may not happen.

It'll take a while.....

It helps if you use one of those clown fish veggie clips and put it in the tank near the nem. I've got one if you want to borrow it.

My clowns host in a frogspawn, not the RBTA that has been in the tank with them for 3 years.
