My Sea Apple died. :(

Sorry Dave. I've always wanted one but been to afraid of them. How's the rest of the tank?

Me too, I love the look of them. Just like you guys always been scared of one. Always heard when they decide to go they take others with them.

Sorry for the loss. Ive always wanted one since I was kid but always afraid also.

Sea Apples rock! This was actually my second one in five years... both passed peacefully without incident.

From what I've learned about the Sea Apples, it's not about when they die as much as it is *how* they die...

If they purge themselves to fend off an attacker, then it nukes the tank... but if it just dies on its own, then it doesn't seem to go into defense mode, and everything stays inside.

I have a theory that it also depends on the environment where it's living... my hallucination is that it has to get its poisonous stuff from somewhere, kinda like a clownfish taking sting cells from an anemone, perhaps?

I'm thinking that there's a lot of stuff in the real world that they ingest that they don't inside our tanks... I could be wrong, though.

Everything else in the tank is jamming right along, though!

Well, there's a kenya tree frag and a few brains on live rock, if that counts as a reef...

I'll get another one one day (they are spectacular), but I've got some other things I want to do with the tank before I do, like add some more live rock, a few more shrimp and snails, and then another swimmer or two. I think it'll be a while before I bring another apple in (plus, my wife isn't exactly too happy with them, and you know what they say about mama not bein' happy!).

cool :) you should make a NPS reef tank and keep another one in there! just an idea. They look cool, I hope you do get another one.
Sea horses are like that for me... I cant go with out them and have to have more than one lol.
