If I place my skimmer pump (mag 9) far away before my return section. Having my skimmer inside my refuge, flowing out the water after being pump in. Is there anything wrong with this idea?

you're gonna have to be more clear on your intentions.. or provide pictures of what you're working with..

I will have 2x 10g sump.
2nd sump will have the return and refugium.

Here is the 1st sump layout.

Sump Dimensions 20" L x 10" W x 12" H

1st area 5" Wide, with Live Rock rubble with a baffle of 10" Height. This baffle would have a bottom opening of 1/2"

2nd Area 8" Wide, water will flow below the 10" baffle in to the skimmer section with Mag 9 and Aqua C 180. Will have a baffle of 9" Height.

Water will flow above the 9" baffle and come down in to another Live Rock rubble area of 3" Wide.

Water will flow below the 3rd baffle of 10" Height with a bottom opening of 1/2"

Last area will be 5" Wide with a bulkhead at 9 1/2" Height for the water to transfer to my 2nd 10g sump.

So what you guys think so far? I wont be able to raise the sump higher than my 2nd sump, because of my skimmer being to tall to drill a bottom bulkhead so gravity can transfer my water.

Unless I take out my skimmer and leave my Mag 9 in the skimmer area and place my skimmer in my 2nd sump in the refuge area would this also work?

Is there any cons or pro in having my skimmer flowing the water out in the refugium area?

I hear having the skimmer feeding pump before the return area is best. Could you explain more on why I would want my skimmer flowing out away from my return pump?? This is the information I am looking for. Is it because of the bubbles is cause when the water flows out the skimmer?

Here is my 2nd sump layout.

Water is transferring in to the first area 3" Wide from the 1st sump, coming down to Live Rock rubble and flowing below the 10" baffle with a bottom opening of 1/2"

Second area will be 2" Wide will be used for heater if needed. Water will come up and flow out through my second baffle with an opening of 1/2" at 8" Height of the 10 1/2" baffle.

3rd area will be 5" wide for my return area. Last area will be 10" which will be my refuge with the same flow idea in to my return area.

About 75% of my water drain from DT will go to my skimmer feed pump and 25% will be going straight down to my refugium.

Edit: *EDIT Last area will be 10" Wide which will be my refuge with the same flow idea in to my return area.

Gotcha!!! If I place my skimmer output in my fuge section I would have to take care of the bubbles before it reaches my return pump as well right?

Is having a lot of LR Rubble is bad?

a refugium should never be placed prior to the return section.. water will run through it so fast, it won't be a refuge for anything..

best to have a separate refugium that bypasses the flow for the sump..
