Currently I'm using a 20l, with a MRC skimmer (for sale now) plumed in externally.

I'm going with a larger skimmer (old ER), and need to put the skimmer in the sump.

Question is, will I end up with bubble issues because of the proximity of the skimmer/returns to the pump?

Seems like the only size tank I can squeeze under a 4'x18" is a 20/29, unless I spend out the anus for a custom acrylic sump (which I'm not going to do).

I plan on using a coast to coast overflow, and the beananimal standpipe setup (3 pipes, on emergency, one full siphon, one "standard"). Also going to sock the returns this time!

30 or 40 breeder! They make great sumps and very cheap. I have 125.00 in mine with brand new tank and baffles.

This was right after it was built about 1 1/2 years ago.

if all else fails use a rubbermade tote. very cheap but work very well. place smaller ones inside for the drain to dump into then spill over into the big tote. worked for my 90 setup for a year

Got a real well made 30gal sump w glass baffles - 50$
At least what I think I paid for it
