I have an 80 gal deep blue 4 x 2 tank. Current residents are two clowns, blue damsel, 6 line wrasse, and bi color blenny. Everyone gets along great. I would like to add a bigger, active fish to round it out.

Requirements of the fish:
Not to difficult - ie. picky diet.
Open top so no known jumpers.

I like purple tangs but don't plan any tank upgrades in the near future. Thought about a small angel but heard they are hit or miss as to being reef safe.

Looking for any suggestions that I may have overlooked.

Consider adding a yellow tang or perhaps a clown tang. Adding a tang should be the last fish that you add to your tank because of their potentilly aggressive tendencies with new comers.

If you're looking for just one fish to round it out, I'd second the vote for a yellow tang. A blue tang would be nice, too. I have both, and they have been model citizens and great eaters.

I haven't had much luck with Tangs, but, if you do get one, check out the kole tang, Bristletooth Tomini Tang, or any of the biestletooth tangs. The yellow eye kole tang is absolutely beautiful. If you are looking at an angel, check out the dwarf angels.

Do you plan on doing any coral? If so, be careful which angel you get...

Edit: Your tank is definitely too small for a clown tang, but, I do agree with the tang being the last that you add to the tank if you find one suitable for your size tank...

Best of luck!!!

My favorite tang is the sailfin tang. Super social fish.
Next favorite fish would be a foxface, hardy, happy and colorful.

+1 on the Anthias. I plan to put a few of these in my next tank. I had bought a male a year ago, but he never bade it out of QT. for some reason. Never wanted to eat, so not sure if he was healthy from the start. Sea Atlanta had some nice ones yesterday and I was very tempted.

Anthias would be a great choice. I was supposed to get one a couple weeks ago from a tank breakdown but when they finished removing all the rock they couldn't find it. Hope it holed up in the rock and that person had a nice surprise when he got home.

Careful with the six line because it could pick on whatever u add. You could add a mystery wrasse if you don't plan on adding any shrimp. A coral beauty and the tangs everyone mentioned are also good choices. Royal gramma.

Edit: That's +1 about the six line especially. They are selohttub...

Yellow Coris Wrasse is a nice fish.
