Okay fellow ARC members, I hate to ask this, but I want some new fish. I live in Milledgeville right now, so there are NO LFS within an hour and a half so its hard to "run to atlanta after dinner" to look at fish. I have been doing research forever it feels like and I cannot stand at looking at online fish stores anymore because even though I can see them, I cannot judge their personalities. I have a 50 gallon tank mixed reef with two b/w clowns. I am wanting to add 1 maybe 2 fish to the tank over the next six months. My question is, what are some fish with great personalities and fun to watch. I have been looking at:

Midas Bleeny
Bluespot jawfish
flasher wrasses
some type of dwarf angle
some type of wrasse

Any suggestions on these or others I have not mentioned. I love my clowns, but I want some more color and personality in my tank. Sorry to ask such a lame question

+1, IMO- shopping for that 'perfect' addition/specimen is HALF the fun!

Any of the above, except "some type of wrasse", ie-stay away from the larger species of wrasse in a mixed reef. They will eat your inverts/shrimp.

yes, I was mainly looking at mystery wrasses, sixline, possom, pink streak(?), wrasses when I meant that sorry. Yes, i know some get much too large and some are not reefsafe

Theres one in Athens....I was there the other day (I work in Athens)

this is true, I lived in athens when i was at UGA. Actually, the petland over there gets some really nice stuff and the guy in charge it top notch! I was actually contemplating running over there today...but I still have to figure out what I want first

i would def. put a midas blenny in there. very beautiful fish with tons of personality.

So you think a midas blenny over the bluespot? I am def gonna get one of these two, just can't decide!

Hardier, cheaper and is alot more active in the tank. Well in the water column where you will see it being active anyway

I just got me a Midas Blenny from rostato.. love him to death... always out too.. Him and my bi-color blenny get along great and the rest of the fishies could of cared less when i put him in there. love my flame angel too... she is in a mixed reef with lots of SPS.. it was a risk but i went with my gut and said get her :) even my indigo dottyback is pretty lame lol like no temper at all like some have said.. tho, my angel does keep it in check which is pretty funny lol

One of my favorites is the Yellow Coris Wrasse. It is beautiful and an active hunter/feeder all day long. It is also very peaceful.

if you have corals some dwarf angels might pick at them so be careful there to, but that is not always the case with angels. some might and some might not it is just dependent upon the fish.
Good point
I would take it a step further with the wrasses and add what you want before adding a lined wrasse.

OO you are right Bud, I had one as well, tho it didn't fair well in chipping but while I had it, it was out and about and took care of my flat worm problem lol i miss him...

No worries, if I did get a sixline it would be last because I know they can get to be a pain... I love the dwarf angels but know the risk with them also, I think I may be willing to tempt it. It is going to come down to wrasse or dwarf angle and prolly the midas blenny.

For those of you who have the midas blenny, how often are they swimming because dont they chill on the rocks as well. I actually dont think I have ever seen one in person.

BIGGQ00;473582 wrote: your lawnmower and bi-color dont pick at each other?? that is awesome. mine are always playing with each other. the bi-color will snip at the lawnmowers tail and then he will disappear. its funny watching the lawnmower try to find him after he vanishes:lol2:

not a lawnmower, midas blenny. lol

and no they swim right next to each other.. even saw them up in a shell real quick... well till i saw them lol

BIGGQ00;473584 wrote: have one of these and they are amazing. mine is a junvenille so hasn't shown all of his adult colors yet. i added him after my sixline but luckily they dont fight. what is surprising is my yellow cors and my gold headed sleeper goby are best buds. they will follow each other every where!!

Why are these not under reef safe at liveaquaria, are they nippers or do they take out CUC

I absolutely love my 6 line wrasse for what it's worth. He is awesome.

Very active, always swimming and eating. Loves flatworms.

The only thing I see under their caution is that it might eat tube worms or wild shrimp. I have two of them in my 120G and they don't really bother anything. I have a Diamond Goby that they will follow around and grab any critters that come out when the goby is sifting the sand.
