Need help with aquascaping

I'm planning to redo my aquascape in the next couple of weeks.
1st would like to have floating reed about 8-10 inches from the sand bed.

Would like to get suggestions and ideas on this

I'm a big fan of the minimal aquascapes that seem to be so popular these days. I went with the two island type design on my 120.

Looking good to me . However, I really like the minimal landscape look.

It doesn't look like it but it's actually two islands, I need to take some rock out. The middle brown stuff is GSP that i glued to the back of the tank

I want to lift up both islands about 6 inches. Not sure how I'm going to do it yet

What about a PVC rack that you zip tie some rocks to. Probably not a bad idea to spray paint black and drill some holes through so that it has some flow and doesn't get stagnant or apoxic. Some eggcrete could work for cantilevering or shelf sections

I lifted mine with pvc and eggcrate. I wished I had used black pvc though.

You can use grey pvc but I'm a fan of using fiberglass rods and drilling rocks
