So I am trying to mount 2 HQI MH pendants over my tank.

Suspended ceiling with easy access above...
Really I'm not sure how I want to suspend the pendants.
What I HAVE done is managed to basically make a fixture out of them by using 2 parts of angle iron that are 2' long and mounting a pendant between each one at each end (See Picture).

I don't want a "shelf" because I pulled the tank farther away from the wall than normal this time (I ALWAYS wish I had more room back there).

SOOOO. my initial thought is to have 4 threaded rods come down to hook the "fixture to. This would also allow me to slide it up and down if needed for exposure (250w on a 16" deep tank is strong).

I tossed around the idea of just using hanging chain, but the power cable from the fixtures will definitely pull the fixtures out of level.
Advice is appreciated.. ! THANKS

You could use conduit to build a rack to suspend the light from or you could build a floating canopy to put them in.

Fan of this and it is how I will be doing my build. (If I ever acquire/build a tank)

Home Depot has several "departments" with "L" brackets that are not in or around plants....
The ones I used are 6" x 8" heavy duty.
