I have 75gal tank and my toadstool is now touching the front and back of the tank. I can not lift the mother out of the tank. Can I take small frags over a longer period of time in the areas where it is folding up on the glass ? I fragged it once 3 years ago because it was injured but it was much smaller and I could lift it up and out. Thanks, Bubba

Just take a pair of sharp scissors and clip it and both the mother and the babies will heal up very quickly. Toadstools are very hardy.

I'm pretty sure with a good sharp knife.. you can julienne them and they'll live.

I cut the outer perimeter of mine off (about 1.5" wide) and cut that "doughnut" up into frags, and they all did fine. I'd just get some scissors or a razor blade in there and go at it.

FYI, I don't know if they all get this upset, but mine has always stayed closed up for at least a week after I messed with it in any way... so don't let that make you think you hurt it. :)

Bubba,

I've done what others have recommended. I use a scalpel to cut the top of the leather around the perimeter of the trunk. Mine was about 6"x6" before I fragged it. I didn't take the mother colony out of the tank at all, I did it in the tank and then after I was done I did a water change. The water change was because of the amount I cut off of the leather.

Also, if you want to mount the frags to a frag plug - use bridal veil, if you don't have any and plan on being at the meeting, I will bring some for you.

Denise

Thanks for all the replys. I will be fragging Monday....after the meeting. Bubba
