Neon Damselfish vs. Peppermint Shrimp

I recently got a peppermint shrimp to hopefully provide some cheap, natural, aiptasia predation. I have only a 30 gallon tank but the neon damsel seems to have chased the shrimp into a hole in a rock where he has only poked his head out of, only to be confronted by the neon and return back inside. They just stare each other down for awhile and the shrimp rubs his tentacles around on the neon until one of them moves. Sometimes the shrimp does a little dance back and forth too. Are they enemies? I was told any fish that is reef safe would be ok to put with a peppermint. Also, any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.
