Thats basically the same thing as drip acclimation. So you did everything right.

I’m trying but I haven’t done everything right. I don’t think I did anything to kill the little dragonette other than buying it in the first place but other decisions I’ve made the past couple of days may come back to bite me.

Confirming what Zap pointed out, Your acclimation procedure for the Dragonet was more than sufficient.

For future reference, true ‘drip’ acclimation I only recommend for strongly sensitive creatures such as snails, clams, and sometimes shrimp. Fish, corals, crabs, etc... it’s not necessary.
