new coral frags have plugs. How to switch to disk

I recently got back into corals and the few pieces I picked up have the coral on the plugs. The only problem is I can't get them to sit properly on my LR. I was told to cut the piece of coral off the plug and glue it directly to the LR. I'm a little afraid to try that but does anyone have advice on how I can get rid of these plugs? Should I cut the ends off maybe?? Thanks everyone

You could just snap the post of with the cutting tool of your choice.

Thats the easiest way.
