I’m upgrading to two, AI hydra 32 HD LEDs, I am currently running dual tube 48” t5’s, 2 old school China black box LED’s and one 48” blue led strip for moon cycle.... my new lights make all that obsolete correct? And I have an sps dominant tank. Any settings or suggestions on programming the schedule for my new lights?

Get a PAR meter, or better a newer one with PUR capability & do it right.

The club has 1 or 2.
Depending on where you live, some of us have meters as well.

It could replace them all but my goal it to run hybrid fixtures on all of my tanks. Depending on what you are working with, I'd keep the T5s around and run blues in them. Of course that assumes it works with your system. I've been running only LEDs on my main display because I'm going for a specific look. I have some T5s that I could add to it but I'm holding out for one of Noopsyche's hybrid fixtures so I can keep the clean look I like.

I have a pretty decent par meter, was wondering wether to run the t5 as well...

Ok that’s what I was wondering if I should keep running the t5 bulbs thsnks

The BRS video’s built a pretty good case for more uniform lighting when you combine LED’s and T5’s. There’s less shadowing and more uniform growth.

Fwiw,
I’ve gone with Aquatic Life hybrids with Noopsyche’s + T5’s.

I’ll look into that, thank you! And your set up sounds great. I’m just looking forward to better than my black boxes....

I’d still run the t5 if I could. Most of us that use LED lighting use t5 supplements to great success

Ok so right now I run my t5s for 8 hours and my full spectrum black boxes for 5. I’m going to really have to play and do some research on these new leds. They are so customizable. Right now I have timers, on or off, ya know?

Do you think t5 on for 10 hours and led for 6 hours? I think the lights have a ramp up and down feature/ dawn and dusk... or can I run the leds for a bit longer like 7-8 hours?

I would run the T5 for like 4-6 hours at peak and let the LED ramp up and down for 8 hours. Maybe 2 extra hours of night time “blue” so you could enjoy it before you go to nes

For what it's worth. AI has the highest cost per actual LED I have run across and their wattage numbers are a bit odd to me unless they're using 3w diodes. For me, I also don't like the green and all the whites they use.

I've been doing a comparison spreadsheet trying to figure out what fixtures I'm going to go with.

I haven't posted it before. I have a large footprint to light soon and have been toying with going DIY while looking at the options available on the market.
