new lights and mushrooms

I had 4 40w normal florescents and my mushrooms opened up big and looked nice. I have upgraded to 4 110w VHO and did not move the mushrooms. It's been 3-4 weeks and the mushrooms open up about 1/3 the size and stay sort of waded up not bad (they don't open flat). I also added some more flow to the tank. Will this contribute to the mushrooms acting wierd and should I move them down they are about half way down in the tank.

Move 'em down and possibly into the shade if you like 'em nice and big. When I upgraded to T5's all of my mushrooms that were out in the light shriveled to 1/3 their former size. They never adjusted to the light- they stayed that size. They ones in the shade are much larger, however, but they both reproduce at roughly the same rate.
