New RODI

Wow... A lot more responses than I thought I'd get... But also some great points.

I was originally considering having the RODI system inside my stand, without a reservoir.

Since its unlikely that I'll be able to fit the RODI inside my stand, I'll have to mount it outside.

With that in mind, I might as well get a 15-20 gallon water drum as an ATO reservoir and storage tank for water changes.

Probably store both inside a suitable cabinet to hide it all...

How does an RODI feeding a sump at spurts differ from and RODI feeding a reservoir in spurts?

The set up we recommend does not include a float valve or any other auto top off on the reservoir. This way, the RO comes on once per week, fills the reservoir, and then is turned off. No cycling at all.

just for the longevity of your RO/DI unit (primarily the DI media) and for the quality of the water which it produces the best thing to do is put your ASOV on a very large container (Ive seen people with 300g drums in their garage). when you are getting low on RODI you turn on the system and it produces only enough to fill that container. you can then refill any resevoirs needed from that. I use a 13.5g rubbermaid container (but i run nanos so its a bit different :D )

Edit: sorry, that implied turning on your RODI unit manually. the ASOV is there so you dont have to sit and watch your resevoir fill to make sure it doesnt overflow.
