ph is 8.2
alkalinity 4 drops divided by 2 = 2?
phosphate appears to be 1.0

having trouble with the nitrite/nitrate test, i must be doing something wrong, the color chart on the seachem nitrite/nitrate test starts out light pink, i have no pink tint what so ever, looks light grey to me

Correct on the Alk test... number of drops to turn it from blue to yellow, divide by 2.

Is the tank new(er?) If there's close to zero nitrate, that's what you'll see. Call it a 0 (or as close to it as you can be).

thanks jenn, the tank is 6 years running so i guess like you say it's at zero. i'm pleasantly surprised. :yay: i thought i might be doing the test wrong. so phosphate is that high, should be zero also i'm sure?

Nitrite test: one drop of Nitrite #1.

Nitrate test: one drop of Nitrite #1 + one scoop of Nitrate #2 (powder).

Phosphate: one drop of Phosphate #1, 2 drops of Phosphate #2

Yes, you want that as close to zero as possible. If it's under 0.3 ppm it's "ok" but the closer to zero, the better.
