okay, due to the recent incident we have with our 55 gallon tank my husband has decided to get me a new tank for my birthday. The new tank is going to be an acrylic tank and is gonna be 55 or 75 gallons. I want to maximize the amount space I have on the bottom of the tank like floor space so I'm not quite sure if I should be getting a long or rectangle tank. Anyway the real question is, since my 55 gallon is setup and cycled and running do I need to cycle the new tank or can I just simply transfer everything from the 55 to the new tank with out cycling. I don't want to lose any fish or corals in the process so I wanna make sure I'm doing the best thing for them.

What exactly is your setup? If you add more rock you may go through another cycle, thats of course if you use live rock. IF your just transferring over and adding in some more water I dont see a big cycle coming. Maybe a mild spike since you would have shifted the sand around a bit. Some of the more senior guys on here should chime in shortly. But I think you should be fine.

I am running a 55g r glass tank with a 75s odyssea hob skimmer, 2 power heads, up to 75g heater, t5 lighting. Our current tank is bowing out really bad. I am getting an acrylic tank but I want more room for open for floor space. I have about 80lbs of lr/br and a 4 inch sb. I just want to transfer everything over to the new tank without doing a cycle. I will be adding in some sand and water.

Edit: Oh and I have a bunch of snails, 6 crabs, 3 damsils, enginear goby.
