Hey guys, in two weeks i'll be picking up a fellow members 120 gallon RR tank. My 75 gallon is currently up, and i'll be transfering my livestock from tank to tank. The 120 is going where the 75 currently sits. I'm not exactly sure how I should go about transfering the fish, and sand. I know the rock will be fine, but the sand i'm worrying about. I know that if i stir up the sand too much it will create a new cycle, and with fish in the new system already I don't want them to be hurt. should i buy new sand? I don't plan on the move until december when i'm out of school for a month and have plenty of time to mess with the tank. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Toss the old sand and by new dry sand. Just rinse it well with a hose in a bucket and then one final rinse with RO. I went from a 35 to a 120 that went back in the same location. If you look towards the end of this thread you will see how I handled the transfer. Started at 4:00 PM and finished at 1:00 AM.
