Well Dustin sent out a sketch of the stand he will be building me. I think it looks awesome. I had him put 8 electrical outlets, a shelf and a side door to help in maintenance of the tank. Does anyone have any inputs on things they wish they would have done or wish they could do over again in their tank design?

Looking forward to seeing the build for it. Dustin does great work. You will be satisfied for sure

From the other post I have seen of his builds, I have full confidence in Dustins work. I cant wait to get it operational.

When he built my stand, i included a larger cut out in the back as i was storing ballast and new id need to put some fans to disperse the heat...just a thought pending on where your ballast would go

He said he put a 4" lip on each side of the tank. The tank is 24" so 32" wide by 38" tall.

I wont have any ballasts as I will be going to an entire LED setup.

I'm sure you or Dustin thought about it but make sure your door ways are large enough to get it through. How wide are they?
Very cool design by the way!! What type material is it going to be?

I always wish I had switches for the elements that need to be turned off for routine maintenance and water changes, i.e. return pump, reactor pump, overflow aqualifter, etc.

I told Dustin the dimensions of the sump so I am sure he has taken it all into consideration. I am not sure the material he will be using yet.

EDIT: I misread your post about the door ways. I am in New Mexico right now so I will have to get my wife to measure the door way tomorrow for me.

I was referring to the doorways in your house to get the stand through. Most of the larger doors in the interior are 31" in the clear, Most entry doors are 35" in the clear.

It's 3/4" birch throughout, except for the two doors. Due to their size (weight), they will each be a 1x2 poplar frame, the front covered with 1/4" birch ply, and birch edge banded all around to hide the seam.

LOL... sorry Keith, I already went and got the stand today. The wife wanted to take our son to the Georgia Aquarium so we spent a few hours there and then stopped by and picked up the stand.

The stand looks great Dustin. Great job. I cant wait until I am able to put the tank on it.

Not going to be doing much with the tank. I am in need of new sand, putty, silicone, acrylic, viniger and patience. Since Dustin just painted the stand yesterday, its not fully dry so he advised me to wait for it to set before I put the tank on.

Whatcha need a far as acrylic goes? Need granite? Anyway call me tomorow. Especially on the sand. I have tooooooo much
