So my tank is a week old. I have a Diatom bloom now. And here are my basic water test results.... Any thoughts?

Welcome to our community Dana. Acording to your test results your right on target and should see ammonia and nitrites at Zero in a week or so. You probably will see the dinos for a few weeks and they will slowly go away after that if your parameters are in check.

Awesome! I was a bit worried, but feel better now. Im happy to know Im good! I did this many many years ago ( about 12) and i have forgotten everything I once knew!

Diatom is normal, however, I would reccomend keeping the lights off for the cycle. There is really no reason to have to lights on at this point, all it will do is create bigger blooms

Did a 25% water change today. Ammonia levels not detected, nitrates zero, and nitrates at 10. Looking good so far. I added a power head today to increase flow and was just amazed at all the critters that came out tonight. Stuff I've never seen before. Friggin awesome!

welcome indeed! don't worry about all the nasty stuff that will befall your tank in the next couple months, just keep on focusing on keeping things in control and let them take their course!

While you are perfectly fine and exactly where you should be at this time, I find that by adding Seachem Stability (or other enzyme/bacteria), it helps move the cycle profoundly more efficiently and allowing nitrates to be consumed quickly.

What he said. I think adding Stability is a great enhancement to the cycle.
