I am setting up a new tank and I will be using the live rock from my ten gallon. My question is should I also use the old live sand in the new tank?

I would use only the top layer sand from your old tank. How much will you be taking?

Well if I can i'd like to take some but if I cant thats cool. I am planning on taking what ever I can. Its about a 1'' sand bed.

When I have upgraded tanks in the past I remove everything from the old tank and keep as much "old" tank water as possible. I then took my fish net and removed the "old" sand and kind of swished it around in the remaining old tank water that I am not reusing to clean the crap out as much as possible. I then used this sand along with some new sand.

I think I am just going to scrap it because it's pretty dirty behind the rocks.
