New to ARC and hobby

Thanks dball. I think I figured out the problem with the coral and file fish. I believe my water was too cold. Just installed a heater. Hopefully that is the solution

You didn't have a heater before? What was the water temp? Did you cycle the tank?

Maybe list what equipment you have running and we can help you get the tank stable.

JBJ nanocube. It was cycled 6 months ago. Did not have a heater before today. As far as equipment everything is stock except for the maxijet pump that LFS recommended me to add. It is the HQI model with the 150w metal halide lights.

I haven't really put a lot of effort into it the past few months just went and got the water tested and did water changes. Have started doing research and trying to correct all the things now.

If you get a chance check out this site. It will give you the basics and much more on what you should look for in maintaining an amazing reef aquarium. Stability is always the key to being successful in this tough hobby. I hope it helps . :)

I believe my filefish was an isolated incident. Nothing else has gone hay wire.

Welcome to the addicti......um hobby, and to ARC. It looks like your off to a good start. Best advice I ever got was; "nothing good happens quickly in this hobby, take your time." I've also found this applies to life.

After the filefish died I waited a few days and tested the water a few times. I added a couple peppermint shrimp and all of the aiptasia has disappeared. Also added a hammer coral and it looks very good and healthy.
