Ok so I always hear.. 'don't let that coral touch that one cause it will sting it" So all of my corals are separated. I was wondering though if one coral colony will sting another coral of the same species? In other words If I put a colony of green zoas next to or touching a blue colony will they get along?

Most softies do OK, and you can actually get some morphs of two colonies growing next to each other. But, you don't want to mix different types, like zoas and mushrooms, or xenia and leathers. I'm not sure about SPS and LPS, though, but I imagine it would be the same. I would think if they are the same species</em> they would be OK, maybe even the same genus, but I'd be careful about putting an acan near a duncan, or birds nest next to an acro, and the like. This is just speculation, though, so hopefully someone with more experience with the LPS and SPS will chime in.

Thanks everyone that answered. I know I have seen tanks where zoas were all growing together and the same with mushrooms. I even saw a pics where mushrooms were nestled inside a colony of zoas.. But I've been playing it safe :)

Just don't put a bunch of leathers in there too because those release lots of toxins. You can do a search for palytoxins if you're interested in finding out more about zoa specific toxins. :)
