Next fish?

Well, Ive been thinking about a new fish for awhile but have came to a crossroads on what to get...a tang or a goby. I got a sleeper goby a few weeks ago, but unfortunately, it died within a few days. So now im back to thinking of my next fish. I really really want a yellow or blue tang but have heard that they are very prone to ich if i don't watch them carefully...on the other hand, i really have been looking at gobies and i like them alot. Just wanted to know what you all think.

This is dependent on things like what size tank you have, how long it's been established, what the other tank mates are, etc.

Well, my tanks a 55 gallon with little live rock and plenty of swimming room. Its been up and fully running for about 4 months now. I have 2 clowns and 4 blue/green chromis. Also, i have about a 2 inch sandbed for the goby if i get him.

Stress of the size tank mentioned would help the tang in being more prone to ich. Have you looked into any dwarf angels?

Nope, never thought anything about angels, would they be good for my tank?

The dwarf angels stay fairly small and would adapt well to a tank the size of yours. Some of them, however, have a habit of picking at corals. Many people luck out and get one that is a model citizen in their tank.

Long term, I think your tank is on the small size for tangs.

Gobies are a great addition to any tank, IMO. There are a variety of them to choose from. I have a yellow watchman goby and he has a ton of personality. I love the shrimp/goby symbiotic relationship as well.

It's been about 3 weeks since my goby died...I obviously got the body out and have been checking the levels constantly since he died and there wasn't anything crazy that happened. Ive been watching all my fish, and nothing seems to be wrong with them so i think everythings good. I may get an angel, do you all have any good suggestions other than a flame angel on which one i could get. Thanks!

P.S., i am leaving for a vacation in about 2 weeks and wont be getting a new fish until i get back and make sure everything is going good just incase this helps

I agree with a coral beauty. much more hearty than the chromis
